The Russian State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov” is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in Russia. The first performance of the orchestra, conducted by A. Gauk and E. Kleiber, took place on October 5, 1936 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
Over the years, the State Orchestra was conducted by Alexander Gauk (1936-1941), Natan Rakhlin (1941-1945), Konstantin Ivanov (1946-1965), Evgeny Svetlanov (1965-2000), Vasily Sinaisky (2000-2002), Mark Gorenstein (2002-2011), Vladimir Jurowski (2011-2021) and Vasily Petrenko (2021-2022). In 2005, the ensemble was named after E. F. Svetlanov. Since 2021, Vladimir Jurowski has served as Honorary Conductor of the Orchestra.
The orchestra has performed in the world's most important concert halls, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Bolshoi Theatre in Russia, the Column Hall of the House of Trade Unions, the Kremlin State Palace in Moscow, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Pleyel in Paris, the Colon National Opera in Buenos Aires, and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. In 2013, the orchestra gave its first major concert on Red Square in Moscow.
The orchestra has had the honorary title "Academic" since 1972. In 1986 it was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, in 2006, 2011 and 2017 it was honored with the Prize of Gratitude of the Russian Federation, and in 2021 it was awarded the Gramophone award for the recording of D. Shostakovich's violin concertos (soloist - A. Ibragimova, conductor - V. Jurowski).

Young and promising conductor Fedor Beznosikov is both a soloist and conductor artist who has been praised for his achievements in the world of Russian Classical Music. Graduating from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory as a violinist in 2017, Fedor Beznosikov has been conducting the orchestra since 2021. Beznosikov, who was a member of the Moscow Virtuosos for 4 years, continues his career as a conductor. The artist, who has won awards in many international competitions around the world, has twice received the “President of the Russian Federation Prize” for supporting talented young people. In 2024, he was nominated for the Moscow Art Theater Award in the Classical Music category and was included in the list of the most talented representatives of the cultural industry in Russia by The Blueprint magazine. In 2023, Musical Life named him “ Discovery of the Year” . Fedor Beznosikov gives concerts both as a soloist and conductor in many prestigious concert halls around the world, especially in Russia, such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Chicago Symphony Hall (Chicago), Musikverin (Vienna), Berlin Philharmonic Hall (Berlin), Mozarteum (Salzburg). He has given concerts and toured in Germany, Spain, Estonia, China, Austria, USA, France and Italy.
