Yamandu Costa , guitar

Yamandu Costa, who is considered one of the most extraordinary guitarists of our time, is one of the rare classical guitarists who introduced Brazilian Music to the world with his 7-string guitar.

Despite his young age, Yamandu Costa has had a long career. Born in the south of Brazil to a family of musicians, the artist first sang on stage at the age of 5 and was introduced to the guitar at the age of 6 when his father gave him a guitar as a gift.

At the age of 21, he won the Visa Instrumental Award, one of the highest awards in Brazilian music, and this success allowed him to record his first solo album. From that moment on, he climbed the steps of his career one by one. Yamandu, who recorded many albums solo and with other artists and orchestras, gives many concerts in Brazil and all over the world.

He is considered by some to be one of the greatest minds of Brazilian music. Yamandu is a guitarist, composer and arranger who does not fit into one style of music, but creates music that combines all of these when playing his 7-string guitar. Yamandu Costa's different styles include chorinho, bossa nova, milonga, tango, samba and chamamé.

With his live-recorded concert at the Rio Montreux Jazz Festival, he was deemed worthy of the "Best Instrumental Album" award at the Grammy Awards in 2022 and the "Latin Grammy" award in 2024.
